Southland Ensemble presents an evening of postal pieces old and new.

In the 1970s James Tenney composed a series of eleven postal pieces - scores that were created and printed on postcards, written for dear friends and colleagues. These each focus on a single concept, be it form, acoustical property, or gesture, and were aptly suited to the musician they were written for.

In 2020, Southland Ensemble cellist Jennifer Bewerse composed her own series of postal pieces that were then mailed to the friends and colleagues they were created for. These pieces each focus on the music created by activities that gave each individual solace and support during that year.
