CALL FOR SCORES

IS NOW CLOSED

THANK YOU TO EVERYBODY THAT PARTICIPATED! WE ARE BEYOND EXCITED TO LOOK AT ALL OF THE SCORES THAT WE RECEIVED AND WILL BE IN TOUCH IN EARLY 2019.

General Description

Southland Ensemble is excited to announce a Call for Scores for our 2018/2019 concert season. On February 9, 2019 we will perform a full concert from this call including up to 10 scores depending on length. Scores will be selected based on their suitability for the group and overall cohesiveness as a concert. All other scores will be kept for consideration in future seasons.

Southland Ensemble is particularly interested in open, text and graphic scores and has performed alternative scores such as those of Fluxus, Cornelius Cardew, Wadada Leo Smith, Anthony Braxton and Christian Wolff. We encourage applicants to explore repertoire from our past seasons to learn more about the kinds of scores in which Southland Ensemble specializes. Composers are also encouraged to submit works that have already been written, and Southland Ensemble in no way requires performance exclusivity for any submitted works. We are not asking for premieres or new commissions, but are hoping to meet composers and pieces we might not have heard of otherwise!

Deadline

December 7th, 2018, 11:59PM Pacific

Eligibility
  • Open to composers of any age or nationality.

  • Submitted works should fit the instrumentation of the ensemble (please see below).

  • Works can be of any duration, though works that allow for interpretations under 7 minutes may have a higher probability of being chosen.

How to Apply

To apply, please fill out the following form and upload all application materials listed below. Materials should be sent in the formats listed. There is no fee to apply.
